I love this painting! I am actually rereading the book again just to get ready for the movie release, but it's so hard to pick a favorite, so I'll go with what first comes to mind and that is the Cheshire cat. =)

hey holly-- wow this is a wonderful little gem-- and i'm in love with the other new pieces-!!

i'm going to have to say the queen always struck me as a most wonderful nonsensical villain--but i can really identify with the white rabbit who was always late for a very important date!

Well, I'd have to say the Rabbit. He's just so frantic and modern in his chasing of time.

I am a huge fan of Alice herself. She is just so darling and precocious. Reminds me of the child in all of us. Your lock and key painting is a great way to capture an element of "Alice in Wonderland" without being overly suggestive...beautiful! I am working on a new series where Im striving for the same thing. Thank you for the inspiration!

Oh how much my daughter would love to look in that keyhole! And I pick that whiskered devil the Cat himself!:)

I wanted to pick the cat but mom is typing! Moms favorite is the sometimes forgotten Caterpillar... remember how the Caterpillar teaches Alice to cope with things?!! At least in the Disney version he changes into a butterfly, yeah!!!
Tail Wags to All.

I must disclose that I am not eligible to be selected out of the hat in Golly Bard's drawing. Oh, but the hat...What will it look like? Some fashion from a tea party?

My very favorite character from A in W was the Red Queen who famously said:

"Always speak the truth - think before you speak - and write it down afterward."

"When you've once said a thing, that fixes it, and you must take the consequences."

Such wisdom!

You can see the orginal book at Google books at http://books.google.com/books?id=ihZxOFAIg_EC&printsec=frontcover&dq=alice+in+wonderland&source=gbs_similarbooks_s&cad=1#v=onepage&q=alice%20in%20wonderland&f=false

I love your blog - have been following it for a while now. Being a bit of a sceptic myself, my favourite is the Eldest Oyster from the Walrus and Carpenter poem in Through The Looking Glass.

My wedding was an Alice In Wonderland affair. We held it outside in my aunt's garden and called it The Mad Hatter's Tea Party. My husband was the Mad Hatter and I was the Caterpillar. I had a long train like a Chinese Dragon that had my cousins, sister and best friend underneath and they were all wearing long red and white striped stockings. When I walked up the aisle, all I heard was laughter and that was the best memory I have of that day.
Alice was my deceased grandmother's favorite story and my wedding was partly held in her honor.
So, my answer for my favorite character is the Caterpillar.
I would love to own another of your pieces. I love the 2 I have and want to add many more to my collection! You're the best,Holly!

I hardly ever get to be a name dropper, so here is my chance. I met alice so I have to choose her. she was in portland at a place called CHAP (childrens healing art project). I said hi and she said hi. It was very heartfelt. http://www.chap.name/

My favorite character is the Hatter; who can resist that gap toothed grin?

Beautiful keyhole painting. All of your paintings are just so pretty and I love your style. I wish the Tim Burton movie was more along the lines of your type of artistry than the botched, hot-topic filled swirling animation that it is.... Lewis Carroll is most likely turning in his grave.
I'm partial to Alice, she has such a grand adventure that its hard not to like her. Were the singing flowers in the book? or just the Disney movie? I can't remember, but those were always my favorite growing up.

What a mysterious painting! Well, the Rabbit and the Cheshire Cat are probably my favorites but I also greatly appreciate the little character called the Mock Turtle. "It's the thing Mock Turtle Soup is made from," said the Queen. Maybe I just like visual puns as in the illustration of the poor little guy. Anyway, it is hard to choose just one favorite character!

I like Alice herself.
